Valeda Jean Samuelson

   Valeda Jean Samuelson, 98, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Page, ND, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo, ND.    Valeda was born on the family farm near Page, ND on October 5, 1920 to Harvey John and Lillian Janet (Bressie) Kenward. After graduation from Page High School, she attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, Northwestern Bible Institute and Bethel College in St. Paul, MN and Eastern Michigan University.    Valeda married Kenneth Samuelson on September 4, 1948 in the United Methodist Church in Page. They met at Bethel College and Seminary, now Bethel University in St. Paul. They were members of First Baptist Church in Minneapolis, MN. Their first assignment after being accepted as missionaries was to a country church in Saum, MN where they sawed and chopped wood for heat and hauled their water.    She and her husband spent 31 years as missionaries at FEBIAS College of Bible and SEND International in the Philippines and part of 18 years in Israel. Valeda continued mission work after Kenneth passed away, going to Israel and the Philippines when possible.    She is survived by her brothers: Richard Kenward of Hood River, OR and James (Eloyce) Kenward of Fargo; sister-in-law: Mary Kenward of Sheyenne Crossing in West Fargo. She is preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth and brothers: Robert (Virginia Perry) Kenward, Donald (Frances Hultz) Kenward and Joe Kenward.   Visitation:  Will be from 1–2 PM followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the Bethany Retirement Living Chapel at 201 University Drive South in Fargo, ND. Burial: Will be in the Page Cemetery in Page, ND.
