Stephen "Steve" Walker

 Stephen “Steve” Allen Walker, 69, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away peacefully on Sunday July 21st, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.

 Stephen Allen Walker was born November 8, 1954 in Langdon, ND to Ivan and Thelma Walker. The family later moved to Long Prairie where Steve graduated from high school. He met Veronica Schloegl and they were married in August of 1974, They resided in Long Prairie, MN and Graceville, MN for a period of time before moving to Alexandria, MN. In 1974, they welcomed Tami to their family. In 1976, Brandi joined the family. The family lived in Alexandria, MN from 1977 to 1988. Steve had various convenience store management jobs in MN. In 1988, the family moved to Beach, ND so Steve could manage the Flying J truck stop. While in Beach, Cole was welcomed to the family in 1991. In 1994, Steve and Veronica got divorced but still remained friends. Steve owned a bar in Mantador, ND. Steve remained in ND and lived in various cities including Grafton and Clifford ND. In 2003, he moved to the Twin Cities area and returned to managing convenience stores. In 2005, he met Peggy Irrthum and they were married in 2009. Steve and Peggy moved to Clifford, ND in 2010 and later moved to Detroit Lakes, MN in 2018.

 More than anything he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. He enjoyed watching football-particularly the Minnesota Vikings and NDSU Bison. When he wasn’t watching football, you could find him watching Fox News or him and Peggy watching Netflix. He also loved fishing, bird watching, gardening, plants, cooking, and spending time loving on his dogs: “Buckaroo” and “Abby”. 

 Steve is survived by his wife: Peggy of Detroit Lakes, MN; daughters: Jessica of MN, Tami (Rick) Wilson of Mayville, ND, Mollie (Tim) VanderHook of Southaven, MS and Brandi Humann of Fargo, ND; son: Cole Walker of Mayville, ND; grandchildren: Seth (Helena) of Clifford, ND, Heather and Richard (Jayden) all of Mayville, ND, Kayla (Ethan) of Hernando, MS, Haley (Andrew) of Southaven, MS, Miranda (Brock) of Bean Station, TN, Hannah Humann and Otto Humann of Mooresburg, TN; great grandchildren: Alivia, Willow, Remi, Farryn, Little Ricky, Blakely, Hendrix, Zaydien, Conner and Lakelyn; brothers: Maynard, Terry and Tim; sisters: Marcy and Nancy.

 He was preceded in death by his parents: Ivan and Thelma; brothers: Mike, Dean and Pat; sisters: Dorothy, Kathy and Carol.

  Celebration of Life will be Saturday July 27, 2024 at 11 am to 1 pm with burial following for those that want to attend. It will be at 26 Plummer Ave in Clifford ND. For google purposes use 26 County Highway 16 in Clifford ND. Burial will be at the Clifford Cemetery.
