Raymond Wayne Bakke, 89, of Portland, ND passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND.
Ray was born on March 12, 1935, in Mayville N.D. to parents Joseph and Ida (Hefte) Bakke from Portland ND. Ray attended school in Portland.
Ray served in the army from 1954-1956. He was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. After returning from service to Portland, he met Beverly Kaldor, the two were married Sept 20, 1957. Ray was employed at Grand Forks Air Force Base for 30 years. He retired in 1997.
Ray was a man of many talents and hobbies…Woodworking: He loved to make rocking horses of all sizes. Metal sculptures: Some of his work can be seen at Rainbow Garden in Mayville ND. He also had a beautiful Christmas display for many years. He was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years. He was also a member of Aurdal Lutheran Church.
Ray is survived by his children; Terry of Hutchinson, MN, Tammy (Bob) Moen of Sun City, AZ, Curtis (Gayle) of Portland, ND, Dean (Jan) of Carrington, ND and Debbie (Dave) Munro of Killeen, TX: 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; brother: Norman; sisters: Marilyn Cook, Sandy Eliason; brothers-in-law: Paul Eliason and Arlen Kaldor.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Bev; parents; brothers: Perry and Roger; sisters: Janet Cosden and Irene Voll; sisters-in-law: Grace Bakke, Kathleen Bakke and Francis Kaldor; brothers-in-law: Max Cook, Bill Cosden and Orion Voll.
Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service: Will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.
Military Honors: May~Port Honor Guard and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors.
Burial: Will be in the Aurdal Cemetery in Portland, ND.
