MELVIN OLSON

Melvin “Dewey” Duane Olson, age 72, of Mayville, ND, passed away Saturday morning, February 10, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 9, 1945 to Reynard and Edith Olson in Grafton ND, the youngest of 4 children. He graduated from Fairdale High School in 1963, later attending the University of North Dakota and Embry-Riddle Aeronatical University in Dayton Beach, FL.

Dewey served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1967. After arriving back home he married Donna Maye Ormiston, December 22, 1967. He was an ag pilot for 12 years, then went on to own Northstar Enterprises and lastly, Creative Products and Marketing for 30 years, where he worked with Polaris and Arctic Cat.

Dewey enjoyed golfing with friends and spending time with his granddaughters at their lake home. 

Dewey is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna; son, Steven; daughter Sarah Dole and son in law Chris Dole, along with 3 granddaughters, Hope, Ava and Elle of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters Deanna Olson and Sharon Lovercheck, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son Scott, parents and brother Rodney Olson.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Mayville Congregational United Church of Christ at 2pm.
