Mary Lou Aamold, 85, of Mayville, ND gained her angel wings Friday, October 29, 2021, at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville with her daughter and niece at her side.
Mary Lou Aamold was born April 19, 1936, the daughter of Olaf and Ruth (Anderson) Renden in Mayville, ND. She attended country school through grade 11. She enjoyed working with her dad on the farm. During that time, she met Mickel who was working for her dad. They were soon married on June 25, 1953, in the Mayville Lutheran Church. The couple resided in Portland with their children and in 1965, after the sudden passing of her father they moved to her family farm to continue working on the farm and raise their family. She and her family sold eggs in the community to local restaurants and grocery stores. She eventually received her GED the same year her daughter graduated from high school in 1980.
Mary Lou worked several jobs in the community to include working the snack bar at Mayville State College, cooking at the Corner Café, May-Port Schools and at Luther Memorial Home, and most notably cooking and baking at Paula’s café and stocking shelves and cleaning at Alco. The couple ran the Kaffe Hus in the Luther Memorial Home for residents and their families. The resided on the farm until December of 2011 when they entered the Luther Memorial Home together.
Mary Lou was an active member of Gran Lutheran Church, WELCA and the VFW Auxiliary. She and her husband enjoyed countless dances at the Lindaas Barn. Mary Lou had a great love for her grandchildren. She was an avid quilter and crafter making a variety of items for family, friends and many others in the area.
She is survived by her daughter Sarah (Loren) Gustafson; granddaughter Nicole (Travis) Brantner and their children Hailey, Brooklyn and Erdreik all of Aneta, ND; sister Ilene (Joseph) Brown of Edgewater, FL; a very special niece Tammy (Paul) Olson and their family; nephew Heath Brown; daughter-in-law: Ngoc (Fred) Stetz of Casper, WY; sister-in-law Judy (Richard) Beck, brother-in-law Richard Aamold all of Portland, ND. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepfather Herman Tastad; sons: Howard and infant son Jimmy; grandsons: Davis Gustafson, Michael Aamold and Roger Aamold; brother-in-law Ingvald Aamold; sister-in-law Lorraine Strom.

Visitation: Will be 5–7 PM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service: Will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 5, 2021 at Gran Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND.
Burial: Will be in the Gran Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
