Marlys Visby

   Marlys Jeanne Visby, 80, Hope, died Wednesday September 1, 2021, surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

   Marlys was born April 12, 1941, in Hope ND to Hjalmer and Dagny Peterson. She grew up on a farm and attended school in Hope. Marlys was married to Jerry Alan Visby on September 7th, 1963 in Blabon N.D. While raising their sons, Marlys was a member of the handy homemakers and worked alongside of Jerry on their family farm east of Hope until Jerry’s passing in 2002. Marlys enjoyed spending time with her family and always had carrot bars to share with visiting family and friends. She was fortunate to be able to spend many days with her sisters visiting, shopping or taking a “sisters trip”.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Jerry; brother: Wayne Peterson; brothers-in-law: Orville Jacobson and Marvin Jacobson.

   She is survived by her two sons: Mark (Kathy) of Buxton, ND and Steve (Jan) of Devils Lake, ND; grandchildren: Michael Visby of Buxton, ND, Shelby Visby of West Fargo, ND, Adam Visby of Bensalem, PA, Alyssa (Cole) Bieber; great granddaughter: Parker Bieberof West Fargo, ND; sister and brother-in-law, Esther & Curtis Suhr of Page ND; sisters: Arlene Jacobson and Shirley Jacobson both of Finley ND; sisters-in-law: Diane Peterson of Peyton, CO, Betty Jo (Martin) Gray of Page, ND and Kaye (Loran) Severson of Hope, ND; and several nieces and nephews.  

Visitation:  Will be 5–7 PM on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hope, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Hope Cemetery in Hope, ND.
