Marlene Glenna Faye (Jorgensen) Fugleberg, age 79, of Cummings, ND returned to her heavenly home on August 5, 2019 after a valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Marlene was born in Portland on November 5, 1939 to Elmer and Luella Jorgensen. She graduated from Mayville High School in 1957. She remained close with her classmates throughout the years and truly cherished the lifelong memories with each and everyone of them. Marlene married the love of her life, Lowell Fugleberg, in June 1959. Together they would raise three boys, John, Karl and Dale.
Marlene was a lifetime resident of Traill County and never met a stranger on the street. Marlene learned at an early age the importance of hard work, helping her mom serve for various events in the community. She went on to continue to serve her community until she was physically no longer able. There was always a pot of coffee on and some sort of baked good available, even if someone stopped by unannounced. It did not matter what groceries were in the house at the time, somehow, she was always able to make the most delicious meal one has ever tasted. Marlene’s potato salad was the most requested dish, even though the recipe was not a secret, somehow it tasted best when she made the potato salad. She will forever be remembered as “Mom”, “Aunt Marlene” or “Grandma” to hundreds of people.
The day Marlene became a grandma was one of the happiest days of her life. She loved each of her grandchildren more than anything in the world. She always made certain she was present for all their life events, from graduations to weddings. Marlene’s greatest joy came when she became Great-Grandma “Mimi”. Somehow, she was always able to find the energy to get on the floor and play with her girls. She was so anxiously awaiting the arrival of her third great granddaughter.
Marlene was beyond grateful for her 79 years on Earth, never taking a single day for granted. She remained a brave, courageous woman of faith throughout her illness, even throughout her final days.
She will be dearly missed by her loved ones who celebrate that she is at peace with her Lord and Savior. She is survived by her sons John (Barb), Karl and Dale. In addition, her four grandchildren, Adam (Ruby), Laura (Jeremy), Ryan, Cody (Alexandra) and great-granddaughters Natalie and Josephine. Marlene was also survived by her very special sister-in-law, Nannette Bagstad, her siblings, Laurel, Ronnie, Red, Julie, JR, Karen and Bobby, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Marlene was reunited with her loving husband of 53 years, Lowell. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
