Marion C. Knudson

  Marion Corrine Knudson, 93, of Mayville, ND passed peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND.

   Marion was born on November 7, 1930, to Christian and Martha Hanson. She married Curtis Peterson in 1950. She had five sons with Curtis. Marion married Rollan Knudson and lived with him on the farm east of Mayville and in Portland.

   Marion graduated from Mayville High School. She worked as a health care provider at Union Hospital and Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Marion was a dedicated housewife and mother who loved music and was an accomplished piano player. She was an excellent cook, baker and loved baking cookies, cakes, etc for her kids and friends. Marion was also active in the Gran Lutheran Church ladies aid and Sons of Norway. Her favorite pastime was playing cards, especially pinochle. She was an aggressive card player, never giving an inch to anyone.

   After Rollan’s death in 2015, Marion moved to the Sun Center Apartments in Mayville where she made many new friends. From there she moved to Luther Memorial Home.

   Marion is survived by four sons: Dennis (Sheri) Peterson, Robert (Susan) Peterson, Calvin (Sharon) Peterson all of Mayville, ND and John (Paula) Peterson of Portland, ND; 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; her sister: Helen Olson of North Oaks, MN and a sister-in-law: Eloise Hanson of Bismarck, ND.

   She was preceded in death by her parents: Christian and Martha Hanson; spouse: Curtis Peterson; spouse: Rollan Knudson; a son: James Peterson; an infant granddaughter; brother: Marvin Hanson and a brother-in-law: Dennis Olson.

Visitation:  Will be 5–7 PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 with a 6:30 PM Public Prayer Service at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Gran Lutheran Church, Mayville, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Gran Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
