Margie Kaldor, 91, of Fosston, MN, formerly of the Mayville and Portland, ND area died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston, MN. Margie Theresa Klar was born on September 18, 1926 to William and Hazel (Martin) Klar on her father’s homestead near Miles City, Montana. She attended Custer County High School proudly graduating in 1945. She went to Fargo ND that fall to attend beautician school and worked at Woolworths to put herself through school. Her roommate Rose Hanson introduced her to her fiance’s cousin, Walter Kaldor. Margie and Walter Kaldor were married June 1, 1946 at the parsonage in Portland ND. They made their home on the Kaldor family homestead near Hillsboro ND, where they raised their two children. Walter and Margie did grain farming and had a small dairy herd. In 1989 they moved to Portland ND. Walter passed away in 2001 and Margie continued to live in Portland until 2011 when she moved to Sun Center South in Mayville. In 2014 she moved to Essentia Health First Care Living Center in Fosston MN. Margie was active in the Aal Lutheran Church. She willingly served wherever needed. She worked at the Luther Memorial Home kitchen in 1968-73. She was active in Homemakers. Margie loved to sing and had a strong soprano voice her entire life. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter, one brother, William, three sisters Christel, Burnice, and Arva, and one grand son-in-law, Jodi Just. Margie is survived by her son Curtis of Mesa, AZ and her daughter Karen (Jeff) Matson of Fosston, MN; Grandchildren Amy (Ercu) Akbay, Jyl (Jeff Withey) Matson, Benjamin (Rhonda) Matson, Gwen (Dan)May; and great grandchildren Lara Akbay, Lauren, Maclaine, & Jack Matson, Derek & Evan May. Also surviving is her sister Marlene (Dallas) Parkins. The family would like memorials, on behalf of Margie, to the Aal Cemetery fund. Visitation: Will be from 12 to 1 PM Saturday, September 1, 2018 prior to the service at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service: 1:00 PM Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at the Aal Cemetery in rural Hillsboro, ND.
