Lynn C. Melhus

   Lynn Melhus, 87, of Halstad, MN died on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, at the Halstad Living Center in Halstad, MN.

   Lynn was born May 25, 1934 in Mayville, ND to Ben and Helen (Borgen) Melhus. He attended school in Mayville, graduating in 1952. After serving 2 years in the US Army, he returned home and married Caroline Vernig in 1956. They moved to Minneapolis, MN where he worked for the US Postal Service until retiring in 1988. The couple returned to live in Fargo, ND and resided their till August of 2018. After Caroline passed away, Lynn lived the past 2 ½ years at the Halstad Living Center Nursing Home.

   He is survived by his sister-in-law: Joyce Melhus and numerous nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by his wife: Caroline; parents; brothers: Wallace, Alden, Erling and Marvin; a sister: Mavis Holmberg and 2 nephews.

Visitation:  Will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, May 9, 2022 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND.

Military Honors: May~Port Honor Guard and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors.

Burial: Will be in the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
