Lowell Eugene Lande

     Lowell Eugene Lande, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Mayville, ND under the care of Hospice and Luther Memorial Home.      Lowell was born near Mayville, ND on April 7, 1928 to Ole and Anne (Strand) Lande and was raised on a family farm and attended Lindaas School.  Lowell lived his entire live in the Mayville-Portland area.       In his younger years he worked at Crane Johnson Lumber Company.  In 1961 Lowell and Donna moved to a family farm in Lindaas Township NE of Mayville and farmed through the 1980’s. Lowell then worked at Mayville State University for eight years. He enjoyed the college scene where he became attached to numerous students and staff developing lifelong friendships.    On May 22, 1948 Lowell married the “girl next door”, Donna Holt in Crookston, MN. They are the parents of two children, Jeannie and Larry. Lowell was a member of Mayville Lutheran Church, a charter member of Mayville Eagles Club, Director at Portland Junction Grain Company, member of MSU Comet Athletic Club and May-Port CG Booster Club. Lowell’s favorite pastimes included watching sports, listening to country music, attending MSU and MPCG high school games where he was known as “one of the Three Musketeers”. He was awarded MPCG Booster Club Fan of the Year for 2003-04.      Lowell’s good spirit, which earned him the nickname “Snowball” as a young man, will be missed by all. He always remembered to make a stranger feel welcome. His loving nature led to opening their home for family and friends as family and the family gatherings were very important to Lowell.      Lowell is survived by Donna, his wife of nearly 70 years of Mayville; children: Jeannie (Ron) Aasen of Burnsville, MN and Larry (Cathy) Lande of Greeley, CO;  grandchildren:  Sharlene (Mike) Glausser of Burnsville, MN, Lori (Todd) Duckson of Prior Lake, MN, Jenna (Ben) Schaffer of Greeley, CO and Kristen (Keith) Curry of Steamboat Springs, CO; great-grandchildren:  Hannah, Lincoln, Zoe and Piper Duckson, Jack Glausser, Emersyn Schaeffer and baby boy Curry due in July; brother: Jim Lande of Mayville; sister-in-law: Marilyn Lande of Mayville and several much loved nieces and nephews.      Lowell is preceded in death by his parents; brothers:  Orville, William, Erling and Jerome; sisters: Dolores “Lolly” and Adeline.   Visitation:  Will be 5–7 PM with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be on Monday 5/14/2018 at 3 PM in the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
