Lorraine M. Gotteberg

   Lorraine M. Gotteberg, 98, of Mayville, ND died Friday, December 1, 2023 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND.

   Lorraine was born January 25, 1925 to Knut and Jennie Juvet.  She grew up in Mayville with her sister, Ruth,and brother, Raymond. After high school, she spent time at both Mayville State and NDSU. She moved to Seattle in 1945 where she worked at the Naval Shipyards and later at Boeing. During her time at the shipyards, she met and married Dick Stallman. After their first daughter Stephanie was born, they moved to Mayville and a second daughter, Patricia, was born. Dick passed away in 1967 after 22 years of marriage. Lorraine felt very blessed to marry John Gotteberg in 1968. Her family grew with the addition of John's children, Shirley and Ronald. In March of 2018, they celebrated their 50th Anniversary. John passed away in September of 2018.

   Lorraine was so happy to see her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and so looked forward to their visits. She enjoyed their sports and school events and was so proud of their accomplishments. Lorraine loved to entertain, especially for family holiday gatherings. She was always ready for a card game of bridge or pinochle with life-long friends, and as the year's past, with new-found friends. John and Lorraine loved to travel and the two highlights were the trip to Norway and a Caribbean Cruise to celebrate their 25th Anniversary. They moved into Assisted Living in 2012. Lorraine was a very talented person and during her lifetime in Mayville she worked at a variety of jobs including Juvet's Coffee Shop, Harrington Brother's Livestock, Soil Conversation, Red Owl, Goose River Bank and Four Seasons. Lorraine was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and Guild.

   Lorraine is survived by her children: Stephanie Freier (Ray) Anacortes, WA, Shirley Gotteberg Thune (Gary) West Fargo, ND, Patrica Stallman Mayville, ND, Ronald Gotteberg (Carolyn) Halstad, MN; eight grandchildren: Polly Peterson, Seth Larson Jr., Tina Schwartz, Scott Thune, Barbara Runck, Becky Kastenbauer, Dick Freier, Jeni Murray; 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

   She was preceded in death by her parents: Knut and Jennie Juvet; sister: Ruth Glaser; brother: Raymond Juvet (June); husbands: Dick Stallman and John Gotteberg.

   She will be remembered for her love of family and friends and leaves us with many, many happy memories.  We love you mom, grandma and friend; and we will miss you dearly.  The choirs of angles are singing as they welcome you into the loving arms of Jesus.

Visitation:  Will be one hour prior to the service.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Mayville, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
