Lloyd Glen “Sonny” Miller, 76, of Cummings, ND, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 under the care of Hospice at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND.
Sonny was born July 9, 1942 in Lancaster, PA to Ben Miller and Edna (Smoker) Miller. The family moved to Umatilla FL in 1952 where Sonny attended school and learn to drive truck. After graduating high school in 1960 he went to work driving truck. He joined the US Army in 1965 and went to basic training in Ft Benning GA and served with honor in Thailand; hauling cargo from port to the airbase.
He married Juanita Pebley in 1963 and to this union, a daughter: Rhonda Rachelle Miller was born. The couple later divorced.
Sonny married Cheryl Day “Cherry” Miller in 1970 and the couple lived in Florida. They moved to Pennsylvania and also Louisiana before moving to Cummings, ND. He was an owner/operator of Northern Traill Transport. He drove trucks and fixed trucks most of his life. After his eyesight forced retirement, he worked as a truck dispatcher for Golden Gem Growers in Umatilla, FL.
His greatest joy in life came from his family. He lately spent most of his time playing with his great grandchildren. He was an active member of the American Legion in Hillsboro, ND. Sonny was an avid carpenter and wood worker, always building something at home. He also was a diehard NASCAR fan.
Sonny is survived by his daughter: Rhonda Miller of Jacksboro, TN;
Sisters: Loretta Sperry and Gladys Edenfield, both in Florida; grandchildren: Charles “Travis” Miller and Brittany Miller; great grandchildren: Cameron Chansler, Thomas Miller and Charlotte Miller.
Sonny was preceded in death by his wife: Cheryl Miller and his parents: Ben and Edna Miller.
Visitation: Will be 5–7 PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND.
Military Honors: Hillsboro American Legion ~ VFW and the ND Military Funeral Honors.
Burial: Will be in the Carlson Cemetery in rural Cummings, ND.
