Karen Martzall, 56, of Hatton ND died Monday, October 9, 2023 near Buxton, ND.
Karen was born in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, and was adopted at the age of 6 months by Thomas and Patricia Martzall. Thomas was a member of the United States Air Force and was stationed in many places retiring in Grand Forks, ND. Karen graduated from central high school and then went on to pursue a degree in auto parts sales specialist at the Northland Technical College in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. After graduating college, she then worked in the auto parts sales world and also had a major interest in working on vehicles thanks to her adopted father, Thomas Martzall. Karen was also employed by American Crystal Sugar in Hillsboro, ND where she started on the pilers and then worked her way into the beet plant and worked there as a misc. lead for many years. After that she has done a few other things for her career; such as being a horse farrier and a beet truck driver which she loved doing every fall. Karen was into Harley Davidson motorcycles and taz. Also, she had a passion for the Kansas Jayhawks and was a Central Redskin for life. She had a major passion and love for all animals. Karen had many dogs and cats over the years. She leaves behind a border collie named Mollie who is 3 years old and Mollie was her fur baby.
Karen is survived by her longtime partner: Dan Beine; her son: Benedict “Benny” Schill and his wife Becky Schill and their two children: Thaelyn and Clara. Benedict also has 3 other children: Xavier being his oldest son and Karen's favorite grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Martzall; her sister: Marianne and husband Patrick, brother Gerard and wife and child, brother Martin and wife Chanthal and children Eric, Daniela and Sophie, sister Sonja and husband Fernand and children Tamara and Karin, and brother Roby and Fabienne and their children Yannick, Noah, Justin and Kylie. A family gathering will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Hatton Community Center in Hatton, ND. All are welcome.
