Josephine “Jo” Satrom, 86, of Page, ND died Sunday, April 6, 2025 at the Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, ND.
Josephine Mary Satrom was born to Axel and Mabel Peterson on January 19, 1939, the oldest of four children. She was baptized and confirmed at St John’s Lutheran Church in Starbuck, MN. Josephine attended District 92, a country school, for her elementary grades. She attended Starbuck High School and graduated in 1956. Josephine attended Concordia College for one year studying business. She worked as a secretary for the Dean of Women at NDSU and later at Merchants National Bank.
Galen and Josephine were united in marriage on September 25, 1960 at St John’s Lutheran Church. They started married life living in Page and later moved to the home farm. Galen and Jo were blessed with three children, Brenda, Gregory and Richard. One baby Janell Rae passed away at 8 days old.
Jo enjoyed being a wife, mother and homemaker. She kept busy with cooking, gardening and other activities. After their marriage, Jo became a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page. She belonged to Circle and WELCA. Jo taught Sunday School, Bible School and was active in making quilts. Galen and Jo enjoyed volunteering for a week in Medora for 10 years. They enjoyed getting to know the other volunteers, staff members and guests of Medora. She also volunteered at Bethany Retirement Living and spent many hours at the coffee shop. Galen and Jo enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Good times were had on vacations in Detroit Lakes and Florida. They enjoyed traveling to Maine, Hawaii, Spain, Norway, taking a Rhine Cruise and exploring other places. Jo and Galen celebrated 64 years of marriage while living at Hatton Prairie Village.
She is survived by her brother: David Peterson; sister: Sylvia (Merlin) Buchholz; three children: Brenda (Donna Duley) Satrom, Greg (Kim) Satrom and Richard (Gwen) Satrom; seven grandchildren: Cassie (Cody) Braaten, Macey (Hayden) Strickler, Makenna Satrom, Liam Satrom, Hannah Satrom, Aksel Satrom, Livia Satrom and one great-grandchild: Crew Braaten.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Galen Satrom; parents: Axel and Mabel Peterson; her baby: Janelle Satrom; brother: Gary Peterson; brother-in-law: Maynard Satrom and sister-in-law: Jeanette Satrom.
Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service: Will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page, ND.
Burial: Will be in the Page Cemetery in Page, ND.
