Joan Carol Simengaard

   Joan C. Simengaard, 89, of Mayville, ND, died Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Sanford Hospital in Mayville, ND.

   Joan was born August 31, 1930 in Graceville, MN to Carl and Alice Irene Oksoll of rural New Effington, SD. At the age of 4, her family moved to a farm near Mayville, ND. Joan attended grade school in Norway School #2 and graduated high school at Sacred Heart Academy in Fargo, ND.

   On December 16, 1948 she and Erland Simengaard were married in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parsonage in Hillsboro, ND. They had two children: Harold and Barbara.

   They liked to travel and see the country. The couple bought a camper and joined camping club and also enjoyed many tour bus trips. They were able to travel to 49 states, seeing beautiful country and meeting many wonderful friends. They also played pinochle whenever possible.

   Preceding Joan in death were her parents; husband: Erland; daughter: Barbara and an infant brother: Joel.

   Survivors include her son: Harold (Alice) Simengaard of Portland, ND; grandchildren: Jill Simengaard of West Fargo, ND, Paul (Krista) Simengaard of Fergus Falls, MN and Michael (Britta) Simengaard of East Grand Forks, MN; great grandchildren: Brady and Lauren Simengaard.  

Visitation:  Will be from 12-2 PM on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
