Ivy Mae Harstad

   Ivy Mae Harstad, 94, of Mayville, ND passed away on December 26, 2019 at the Luther Memorial Home, Mayville.

    Ivy was born to Emma and Otto Moen of rural Galesburg, ND on Nov 7, 1925, she was one of 6 children. She attended school in Galesburg, and graduated from Mayville State College.

    On April 7, 1946, she married Rudolph Harstad. Ivy and Rudy had 5 children: Richard, Gary, Mark, Karen and Kathy. Ivy was a den mother for her sons Cub Scout Pack and enjoyed all of her children’s activities throughout the years. Ivy was active in Ladies Aid and Circle at Mayville Lutheran Church.

    In the early years of their marriage, Ivy would at times help Rudy with the farm work. Most rewarding for her was caring for and nurturing her children.

    Ivy is survived by her sons: Richard (Mary) and Gary (Becki); her daughters: Karen (Tim) Pratt and Kathy (Paul) Leclaire; 9 grandchildren: Marissa, Rachel, Olivia, Ryan, Jarid, Jodie, Andrew, Peter and Laura; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Ethel (Dale) Haakenson.

    Ivy was preceded in death by her husband: Rudy; son: Mark; parents: Emma and Otto; sister: Emy (Neil) Haakenson; brothers: Bill, Orin, and Dale.

    As with everyone, in her life Ivy had times of joy and times of sorrow. Ivy accepted all with grace and a beautiful heart. Many who knew Ivy spoke of her kindness, and said she was an angel.

Visitation:  Will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Thursday, January 2, 2019 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
