Greta Marie Paschke (Anderson), 60, Mayville, ND passed away on July 11th, 2023, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Greta was born November 18, 1962, in Mayville, ND to Keith and Ann Anderson. Greta was baptized at Fisher Lutheran in Fisher, MN and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran in Buxton, ND. Greta’s love of music started at an early age when she began piano lessons at age six. She graduated from Mayville-Portland High School in 1980, where she was active in many activities, particularly music. After high school, she attended St. Luke’s Nursing School in Fargo for one quarter but transferred to Mayville State University, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 1985. In 1999, she completed her bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, and Library Science from Mayville State. In 2004, she completed her master’s degree in Science Education from University of North Dakota. In 2013, she began to pursue her PhD in Music Education but was not able to finish due to her health. She worked at Mayville State University as an Instructor of Music and Science from 1999 to 2021. From 2021 to 2023, she worked at MPCG High School in Mayville as a Librarian and Media Specialist.
She had four children with Karry Kyllo; Megan, Leah, Thomas, and Ronald. Greta was very active in her children’s extra-curricular activities, developing her famous “Hockey Mom Voice”. Greta dedicated herself to ensuring her children were her priority and spent much of her free time attending various hockey games or track meets. Additionally, Greta loved music and theater. She participated and directed in many musical and theatrical performances at Mayville State University over the years and was a founding member of the “Drama Queens”. Greta also loved gardening and all things plant related. She never found a wilting plant she didn’t think she could rescue. She was an active church member at Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren in Mayville, ND and played music for the congregation on a regular basis. Greta made a tremendously positive impact on everyone she met over the years, especially the thousands of students she taught at Mayville State University and MPCG High School.
Greta met Perry, the love of her life, in 2000 and were married in 2011. They formed an inseparable bond that was cut way too short. Together, they enjoyed endless witty banter between themselves and continually found ways to enjoy their time together. They both loved each other dearly and it was obvious they cared deeply for one another.
She leaves behind her husband, Perry; her children, Leah (Gertjan) Muskee, Almere, The Netherlands; Thomas (Dena Wyum) Kyllo, Fargo, ND; Ronald Kyllo, Corpus Christi, TX; stepdaughter Marit (Matt) Lau, St. Louis, MO; grandchild Diego Colet; her parents, Keith and Ann Anderson, Mayville, ND; sisters Merry Gleason, Mayville, ND and Jennifer (Bruce) Otteson, Grand Forks, ND; and nieces and nephews Kayla (Nick) Pederson, Brady (Whitney) Otteson, Mikkel Anderson, Katie (Kyle) Giermann, and Austin (Katrina) Anderson plus her many great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mikkel and Blondie Anderson and Carl and Joyce Oien; her daughter Megan Kyllo, and her brother Paul Anderson.
We would like to thank her doctors at the Roger Maris Cancer Center for their excellent care. In addition, we are forever grateful for the compassionate care that she received from the members of Red River Valley Hospice.
