Gordon E Langlie

 Gordon Langlie, 74, of Mayville, ND died Friday, October 20, 2023 at his home in Mayville, ND.

   Gordon was born near Mayville, ND in Traill County, the son of Gilfred and Othilia (Devold) Langlie. He grew up south of Mayville on the family farm, attending rural school and later graduating from Mayville High School. Gordy continued his schooling and became a diesel mechanic. In February of 1968 he entered the US Army. While serving, he was a helicopter crew chief in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in February of 1971 and returned to North Dakota. He worked for Pettibone for years as a diesel mechanic. He started manufacturing trailers and called his business “Flash’s Trailers”. Gordy finished out his career at the Case IH tractor plant in Fargo, ND.

   Gordy loved everything about racing. He was very involved in the racing community and was the track prep guy for Red River Valley Speedway for many years. He was known as a generous sponsor of racers, who thought the years, supported many drivers and also owned race cars. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time at the track, visiting with drivers, and most of all his family and friends. Grody was a very gentle man with a very positive, upbeat personality.

   Gordy is survived by his wife Paula of Mayville, ND; brother Richard (Ann) Langlie of Champlin, MN; and numerous friends and race fans.

   Gordy is preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Darlyn Brenna.

A celebration of life will be held at 6 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Giant Panda Chinese Restaurant on 1331 Gateway Dr in Fargo, ND.
