Gladys Mae Fugleberg

July 25, 1926 — April 13, 2023

Mayville

Gladys Mae Fugleberg of Mayville-Portland, ND passed away after 96 years of being surrounded by her loving family.

Gladys was born on July 25, 1926 in Traill County to Mabel (Hovland) and George Holkesvig. She attended a one room school a quarter mile from her farmstead and went on to graduate from the Portland High School, after which, she attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND.

On November 28, 1948 she married her best friend and love of her life, Lavon Fugleberg. Gladys and Lavon lived most of their lives at the farm on which she grew up and where they enjoyed raising livestock, crops and their two children, Susan and Steve.

While active in their church and beloved Portland and Roseville Township communities, Gladys and Lavon’s favorite place to be was always their farmstead. Besides many enjoyable times spent with the Hovland, Holkesvig, Fugleberg and Syverson relatives, Gladys was happiest in her role as a farm wife, mother, grandmother and care-giver for extended family.

She is survived by her daughter: Susan Fugleberg, son-in-law: Richard Woosnam; step-grandchildren: Ken and Wendy Woosnam and Jen and Brian Cole, all of Illinois; her son: Steve Fugleberg, daughter-in-law: Marge of rural Portland; grandson: Ross Fugleberg and his wife Holly of Arizona; granddaughter: Megan Lind and her husband Jake and their sons: Owen and Logan, all of Fargo, ND.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband: Lavon, her parents and sister: Eunice Moen.

A Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, 10:00 AM June 10, 2023 at the Aurdal Lutheran Church in Porland, ND, with burial in the Aurdal Cemetery.
