Gertrude M. Anda

   Gertrude M. Anda of Mayville, ND, died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND.    Gertrude was born on October 11, 1924 on her parents’ farm near Hampden, ND to Helen and Herman Simon. Gert graduated from school in Hampden, ND, and then attended New York Hairdressing Academy in Fargo, ND. She was self employed as a beautician for 25 years, owning her own beauty shops. After retiring as a beautician, she was self employed as a home healthcare provider for 20 years.    On December 28, 1946, she married Melvin I. Anda in Edmore, ND. They enjoyed attending dances in Edmore. Gert was a good cook and an excellent baker. She enjoyed playing cards and board games. She found great pleasure in crocheting afghans and doilies for family and friends.   Gertrude is survived by her son: Douglas (Sandi) Anda; three daughters: Iris Anda (Larry Tallmadge), Diane Anda and Glenda (Brent) Vossler. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Melvin and grandson: Joseph. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley or a charity of your choice in Gert’s name.    Visitation:  Will be one hour prior to the service at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville church. Memorial Service: 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND.
