Geneva (Jan) Knudson passed away peacefully on September 23, 2023 at Sanford Hospital in Mayville, ND.
Geneva Victoria Domier was born to Alvin and Mildred (Brend) Domier on April 11, 1933. She married Merl Kyllo on October 22, 1950. Merl died in an automobile accident on 10/31/1960. Merl and Geneva had two children: Deborah Cheryl and Randy Scott.
Geneva married B. Michael (Mike) Knudson on May 19, 1961. Mike and Jan had three children: Robin Michelle, Cherry DeeAnn and Shawn Michael.
She was a hard-working farm wife and was widely known for her brown bread and rommegrot. Her brown bread often garnered $20 or more, per loaf, at the Stordahl Church bazaar. Her homemade buns were pretty fabulous, too! She was a member of Stordahl Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and Circle.
Jan played keyboard in the band, The Country Playboys with Mike and her brothers David and Dennis and their brother from another mother, Steve Muchow. They played for many, many wedding dances over the years. She had many funny stories about their days in the band. It’s crazy what you see on the dance floor when up on the stage. Jan made most of the beautiful clothing she wore while in the band. People will remember her for her love of pretty clothes and her high-heel shoes. She was the prettiest Electrolux salesman in Traill County. She also cleaned houses for several years. Any house she touched was spotless when she was done. More than anything, she loved her family, turquoise jewelry, sparkly boots, collecting dolls and Cajun dancing with our dad.
She is survived by her children: Randy (Deb) Kyllo, Robin (Rick) Jack, Cherry (Jay) Larson and Shawn (Kathy) Knudson; her grandchildren: Shane (DeAnna) Kyllo, Chad (Brenda) Kyllo, Blake (Michelle) Kyllo, Trisha Coleman, Scott Coleman, Shelley Wittrock, Jamie (LaVonne) Jack, Nathan Larson, Dana (Heather) Larson, Caitlyn Larson, Matthew (Brandi) Knudson, Nicholas Knudson, Ryan Knudson, Chase Knudson, and sixteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother: Dennis (Paulette) Domier; sisters-in-law: Carol Domier, Ardis Haaland, Margaret Rice and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: Merl and Mike; daughter: Deb; sisters and brothers-in-law: Elaine and Daniel Viken and Ione and Harold Thuen; her brothers: Wayne Domier and David Domier; nephews: Bob Thuen, Mark Thuen and niece Cindy Sorensen.
