Esther A. Slaughter

   Esther Alvina Slaughter, 92, of Mayville, ND, passed away on January 1, 2021 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND.

   Esther was born August 4, 1928 on the farm in rural Mayville, ND, the daughter of Peder and Esther (Thorpe) Tunseth. She was the middle child amongst ten siblings. Esther attended country school in Norway Township through the eighth grade and later in life, at the age of 65, proudly completed coursework and received her GED Diploma. 

   Esther lived and worked in Grand Forks for many years where she was employed at Jandy’s clothing store and a member of Sharon Lutheran Church.  In her leisure time she loved to quilt and also enjoyed other crafts, jigsaw puzzles and playing bingo.

   Esther is survived by her sons: Charles Mould of Larimore, ND and Tom Zehren of Cache, OK; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; sisters: Clara Evanson of Portland, ND and Kathryn Jenkins of Burbank, CA; sister-in-law: Caroline Tunseth of Mayville, ND. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters: Debra Kessler and Kathie Mould; her son: Steven Mould; her siblings: Olive Grindeland, Paul Tunseth, Lester Tunseth, Orville Tunseth, Milton Tunseth, Arlene Olson, Jane Demarais and Linda Schuck.

   A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
