Eleanor Alice (Olson) Amb, 92, formerly of Portland, ND, and for the last six years, Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND, died Sunday, April 15, 2018. Eleanor was born April 25, 1925, near Galesburg to Harry and Anna (Kyllo) Olson. She grew up on the Olson family farm and attended Greenfield School through the eighth grade. She left with her sister, Viola, for Chicago where they worked during the war. She returned and married Julius Arley Amb rural Portland, where they lived and worked their entire life farming the Amb homestead farm. After retiring, they moved into Portland and spent the next 25 years traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was baptized and confirmed at Stordahl Lutheran Church, rural Galesburg; was married and became a member of Bruflat Lutheran. For years she was an active member of the Bruflat Ladies Aide and the church choir. She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, crocheting and embroidery work and playing cards with family and friends. She is remembered by her family for her famous cinnamon rolls and molasses cookies. She always loved visits from the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren making memories on the farm and in the later years in Portland. She would often be seen sitting outside in the evenings with her husband, Julius, at the end of a good day’s work. She is survived by her three children, Elaine Fremling, West Fargo, ND; Arlene (Terry) Kvislen, Ft Pierre, SD; and Parnell (Dede) Amb, Portland, ND. She has ten grandchildren, Eric Fremling, Alicia Fremling, Vanessa Fremling, Michelle (Bryon) Keil, Todd (Jennifer) Kvislen, Janelle (Andrew) Carda, Nicole (Justin) Bachmeier, Melissa (Brent) Johnson, Cody (Hayley) Amb, and Kyle (Missy) Amb. She is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Julius, her parents and seven siblings. Memorials preferred to the Bruflat Lutheran Church Women’s Group or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, in loving memory of Eleanor Amb. Visitation: Will be 5–7 PM with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Burial: Will be in the Bruflat Cemetery in Portland, ND.
