David Ira Seaver, age 77, died peacefully in Hospice Care at Grand Forks Altru Hospital on July 26, 2023.
He was born to Herbert and Marie (Fick) Seaver of Portland, North Dakota. David was baptized and confirmed at Bruflat Lutheran Church and grew up in Portland. He graduated from Portland High School and Mayville State University. He resided in Hatton, ND where he raised his family and ran a business before moving to Grand Forks.
David was involved in an agricultural career - mostly in the edible bean business. David was a force of nature - memorably independent in thought and deed. He was known as a trap shooter extraordinaire, an outdoorsman and avid hunter. David had a gift for striking up a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed discussing any sport, hunting, or current events with anyone who would engage. He enjoyed following his grandchildren in their activities and other endeavors - offering guidance as well as a good joke or two and sharing in laughter with them. David also enjoyed cooking, baking and working in his garden - often sharing his spicy hot, hot sauce!
David was the proud father of his three sons: Shane, Jerod (Dawn) and Travis (Vanessa), all of Grand Forks, ND. He is also survived by his sister: Carol (Richard) Van Damme; four grandchildren: Nicholas, Betsy, Alexander and Liam and three great-grandchildren.
David is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Herbert, Howard Keith, Richard and Robert.
