David A Popiela

   David Poiela, 73, of Mayville, ND died on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at his home in Mayville, ND.

   David was loved by so many and he adored his grandchildren. Most of all he will be missed deeply.

   He grew up in Chicago and was in the military. He was a very-very smart man who used his knowledge to teach us as kids. We moved to Mayville from San Diego in 2005. Dad was against it, but mom wanted to and said “That’s the end of the story”. He did meet many wonderful people in Mayville and became very close with them. Dave would help anybody that needed help.

   He missed my mom Sandra so much after she had passed (10/9/2014) that life was never the same for him. He did continue to have a smile, and he did continue to be there for his family. We are so lucky that my sister was able to take care of him during the last month of his life. He was very grateful for that, and so is the family. Dave was a very devoted family man; especially with his grandchildren: Jacob, Jenna and Alex. They were the apple of his eye. He had passed away very peacefully with Jodi and I (Jason Hathaway) holding his hands.
