Caroline K. Tunseth

   Caroline K. Tunseth, 93, Mayville ND, died Wednesday August 24^th 2022 at Sanford Medical in Mayville ND.

   Caroline was born the daughter of Knut and Clara (Smestad) Eken on June 23^rd, 1929 in rural Hatton ND. She grew up and attended rural school near Hatton graduating with an 8^th grade education. Upon completion of her education, she moved to Mayville and worked as a waitress at the Corner Café where she met Lester Tunseth. Lester and Caroline were married September 25^th, 1948 in Moorhead MN.

   Caroline worked various jobs while raising a family. She worked as a waitress/baker at Paula’s Café, Dairy Queen, Home Day Care Provider and nurse’s aide and activities aide at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville.

Caroline was a Charter Member of the VFW Auxiliary, where she held local and state positions. She also was very actively involved with Mayville Lutheran Church, WELCA and Mayville Senior Center.

   Caroline loved and perfected Norwegian needle work and baking pastries.  Caroline and Lester spent hours making lefse together and later found pride in teaching others how to roll and fry lefse and flatbread.   She also enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, cards, puzzles and visits and adventures with family and friends.

   Caroline is survived by her sons: Larry Tunseth of Kenai, AK and Darryl (Julie) Tunseth of Grand Forks, ND; daughter: Shirley (Mike) Mullally of Hayward, WI; daughter-in-law: Twyla Tunseth of Grand Forks, ND; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; brother: Kenneth Eken of Mayville, ND; sisters-in-law: Clara Evenson of Portland, ND and Kathryn Jenkins of Burbank, CA.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Lester; sons: Wayne and Michael; daughters-in-law: Rozann Tunseth and Louise Tunseth; brothers Arvid, Stanley, Dennis and Robert and a sister: Evelyn Anderson.

Visitation:  Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 29, 2022 at the Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
