Annette M Schafer

   Annette M. Schafer, 76, of Portland, ND, died Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

   Annette (Ann) M. Schafer was born on April 10th 1944, to Bernt and Audrey (Sparrow) Lucken in Mayville, ND and died on March 13th 2021. 

Ann was baptized and confirmed at Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. She graduated from Mayville High School in 1962.  Then attending college in Bismarck and Williston, ND receiving her degree in nursing. 

   Ann married Dennis "Sandy" Schafer in September 1965. They lived in California and Colorado before returning to Portland, ND. 

   Ann worked in the medical field as everything from an ER nurse to hospice care. Most recently working as an LPN at Hatton Prairie Nursing Home and as the Traill County Footcare Nurse.

   Ann married Clem Petrick on December 24th 1991.

   She was a member of Bruflat Lutheran Church. Ann was a nurse for over 50 years. Her passion was working on her farm and decorating her house from top to bottom for every holiday.

   Her fierce love and care for family, neighbors and friends will be greatly missed.

   She is survived by her husband (Clem Petrick), sister (Liz Matthews), children Tamara Schafer (Tammie Fuson-Schafer) of Mayville, ND; Daniel Schafer (Christy ) of Mandan, ND; John Petrick (Lori ) of CO and Michael Petrick of Fargo, ND. She had 9 grandchildren Kevin Fuson, Griffen Schafer, Brayden Schafer, Ryen Schafer, Lynken Schafer, Caleb Schafer, Candra Schafer, Amy (Andrew) Galegher and Zachary Petrick. 5 great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, Xavier, Charlotte and Edward. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

   Ann was proceeded in death by her mother (Audrey Ives), father (Bernt Lucken), step-father (Orton Ives), and her brother (David Lucken).

Masks are required.

Visitation:  Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, March 19, 2021 at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Bruflat Cemetery in Portland, ND.
