Amos Bernard Kjorness, 97, of Mayville, ND, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the Luther Memorial Home, in Mayville.
Amos, the second child out of four, was born on February 11, 1923 in Lindaas Township, the son of Oscar and Ella (Hanson) Kjorness. The family moved to Greenfield Township where Amos graduated from the 8th grade. Later the family moved closer to Mayville where Amos farmed with his father. Amos continued to farm for many years.
Amos enjoyed driving around the countryside and was very knowledgeable about the local history. He enjoyed "old time" music and never missed a barn dance. In later years he would always make a trek to Rollag for the Steam Threshers Reunion. Amos was also a self-taught musician. He was amazing on the accordion, guitar, and harmonica. He even dabbled on the keyboards and the violin.
Amos is survived by one sister and brother-in-law: Muriel and Olaf Ringerud of Carrington, ND. He is also survived by 7 nieces and nephews along with many cousins.
Amos was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Beatrice Green and one brother: Maynard Kjorness.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
