Alvia M Flaten

 Alvia Flaten, 92, of Mayville, ND died Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Sanford Hospital in Mayville, ND.

 Alvia Mae Flaten was born May 24, 1932 to Manne and Anna (Holkesvig) Olson in rural Morgan Township, Mayville, ND. She grew up and attended country school though 8th grade and high school in Mayville. She was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church and later became a member of Perry Lutheran Church and Aurdal Lutheran Church.

 Alvia married James Flaten on November 19, 1949 in Crookston, MN. They were married for almost 70 years. The couple lived in Aneta at the Haugen Farm in Steele county and Portland, ND. They moved into Sun Center Apartments in 2019. Alvia was a quilter, loved playing cards with her friends and working on jigsaw puzzles. She loved flowers, hummingbirds and butterflies.

 Alvia is survived by her daughter: Karen (Doug) Osland, Mayville; sons: Steven (Deb) Flaten, Grand Forks and Terry Flaten, Hiawatha, IA; grandchildren: Kent Osland, Eric (Lisa) Osland, Anita (Andy) Strand, Stephanie (Scott) Solway, Sarah Flaten, Cindy Flaten and Rachel (Matthew) Meyer; great grandchildren: Hannah, Carter, Isabelle, Kyle, Trevor, Connor, Kaia, Shania, Leecia, Izaiah, Andrew and Charlotte; great-great granddaughter: Isla; sister: Elaine (John) Hagen, Fordville; brother: Dennis (Connie) Olson, Fargo; sister-in-law: Ruth Flaten and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 She was preceded in death by her husband: James; parents; sister: Delores Grandalen and brother-in-law: Oliver Grandalen.

Visitation: Will be 5–7 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 with a 6:30 PM Public Prayer Service at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Aurdal Cemetery in Portland, ND.
