Agnes Julia Basol passed away the morning of September 2, 2019 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND at the age of 101+.
Agnes was born November 20th, 1917 to George and Sarah Grandalen on the Grandalen home farm west of Portland, ND. She attended country grade school in Viking Township thru her 8th grade. She was very proud of completing 8th grade with a very good report card. She often talked of wishing she could have gone to high school, but was needed to help her mother on the farm. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Aurdal Lutheran Church of which she was a life time member.
On September 25th, 1938 she married Elvin Basol. To this marriage two sons were born, Jerald and Robert. Mom was a very good cook and when times were tough she made do with what we had and still made a good meal out of it. Her hobbies were many with, crocheting, reading, crafts, gardening and watching the Chicago Cubs baseball games was her favorite. She had an amazing memory and loved to tell stories of different events in her life.
She is survived by her children: Jerald (Diana) Basol of Lake Park, MN, and Robert (Cheryl) Basol of Janesville, MN; three grandchildren: Terry (Cheryl) Basol, Patrick Basol and Jody (Greg) Johannsen; two great grandchildren: Sean Basol and Makayla Johannsen; five step-grandchildren: Doug (Donnie) Endrud, Diane (LeRoy) DeFoe, Mike (Sharon) Endrud, Darrell (Terri) Hovde and Susan (Steve) Hovde; also numerous nieces, nephews and many more relatives and friends.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Elvin; siblings and a large number of relatives, friends and people of her generation.
The family sincerely thanks the entire staff of Luther Memorial Home for their loving care of Mom during her stay.
Visitation: Will be 5–7 PM with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service on Monday, September 9, 2019 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.
Burial: Will be in the Aurdal Cemetery in Portland, ND.
