Ruby E. Hagen, 96, died Monday, December 18, 2006, in her home near Page, North Dakota. Ruby Elvida Olstad was born on a farm near Galesburg, North Dakota on October 25, 1910. Ruby was the youngest of eleven children to Mathias and Marit (Rindahl) Olstad. She grew up and attended country school in Broadlawn Township near Galesburg. Ruby was baptized and confirmed in the Elm River Lutheran Church, Galesburg. She married George A. Hagen on October 2, 1937 in Roslyn, South Dakota. George and Ruby rented the Barckley farm, also known as ‘Sleepy Hollow’ near Erie, ND, and made this their home the first few years of their marriage. A son, George, was born to them in 1940. In 1945 they purchased a farm 4 miles east of page on Highway 26 and moved the following year to this location. In 1976, the Hagen’s built a new house on the farm. George died January 15, 1999, in the Moorhead Health Care Center in Moorhead, MN. Ruby was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page and enjoyed involvement with various organizations in the Church and community. Ruby enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and for a number of years did volunteer work in the beauty shop at the Arthur Good Samaritan Center. Recent years she enjoyed quilting with the WELCA ladies of the church and playing cards with the Fun and Friendship Club at the Page Senior Center. She is survived by son George A. Hagen, Page, ND; sisters-in-law, Helen Olstad, Perham, MN, Genevieve Mickelson, Kirkland, WA, and Eleanor Hagen, Blairsville, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband George; four brothers: Ole, Melvin, Pauli, and Raymond; and six sisters: Mina Satrom, Pauline Haugan, Oline Haugan, Olga Jensen, Alma Workin, and Mabel Satrom. FUNERAL SERVICE: Friday, December 22, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Page, ND. VISITATION: Thursday, December 21, 2006 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00PM, and one hour prior to the funeral service, all at the church. BURIAL: Page Cemetery, Page, ND.
