Thelma Sundeen, 98, of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Buxton, ND, died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, ND. Thelma was born June 3, 1912 in Buxton, the daughter of Knute and Gunda (Myklund) Jore. She grew up and attended school in Buxton. She married Alfred Sundeen on February 27, 1932. They moved to Clifford, ND where they farmed until they retired in 1975. After retiring, the couple moved to Buxton. Thelma worked at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND for 13 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Buxton; Sons of Norway and Buxton Senior Citizens. Thelma enjoyed visitors and always had the coffee pot on and lunch ready. She was a great storyteller. Thelma is survived by her grandchildren, T. Alan (Shirley) Sundeen of Chaska, MN, Kathy Rapsavage of New Salem, ND, Barb (Earl) Jensen of Reynolds, ND, Gary Sundeen of Buxton, ND, Shari Breiland of Grand Forks, ND, Susie (Larry) Kuster of Reynolds, ND, Karen (John) Plante of Buxton, ND, Scott Sundeen of Buxton, ND, and Tayren, Trexa and Thuran Sundeen; 18 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Sundeen of Buxton, ND; and Helen Wheeler of Grand Forks, ND whom she cared for as a niece, daughter and friend. She also had several nieces and nephews and 17 Godchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Truman, husband Alfred, parents, sister, Gladys Thompson and brother, Orean Jore. Visitation: Will be on Thursday from 5 – 7 PM with a 7 PM public prayer service at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Buxton, and will resume one hour prior to the service. Funeral: 10:30 AM Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Buxton Burial: Soderberg Cemetery, rural Buxton.
