Marvin Leroy Viken, 82, Lisbon, ND, formally of Portland, ND, died Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the Lisbon Hospital, Lisbon, ND. Marvin was born November 20, 1923, in Laverne, MN, the son of Christopher and Hulda (Fulman) Viken. In the spring of 1928, Marvin and his family moved to a farm in Primrose Township, Steele County. Marvin attended Primrose School #1. He farmed until February 1943 when he entered the US Army. Marvin served in WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He then returned to farming, and later worked various jobs including Sioux-land Meat Packing in West Fargo, ND, and Domier Construction in Mayville, ND. Marvin enjoyed his land in Steele County, especially his trees and growing pumpkins. In 1996 Marvin entered the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon, ND. He is survived by his brother, Daniel (Elaine) Viken, Mayville, ND; nieces and nephew, Cindy Sorensen, Mayville, ND, Terry (Craig) Klabo, Portland, ND, Jody (Ron) Viseth, Mayville, ND, Todd (Shari) Viken, Hunter, ND, Leanna (Kaare) Aarsvold, Blanchard, ND, Jennie (Alan) Smith, Audubon, MN, Rosalie (Brian) Ross, Estavan, Canada, and Carolyn Clancy, Mayville, ND; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Clarence (Annie) and Lawrence (Lena). FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Perry Lutheran Church, rural Portland, ND.
