Charles S. Lee, age 91 of Mayville, ND passed away peacefully Monday, March 8, 2010 at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, ND. Charles Lee was born January 10, 1919 in Morgan Township north of Mayville to Henry Lee Sr. and Ida (Olson) Lee. He attended Morgan School, graduated from Mayville High School, and attended Mayville State Teachers College. He farmed along with his parents, and formed a partnership with his brother, Henry Lee Jr. He married Norma Hefta on July 15, 1956 and they lived and farmed north of Mayville until they retired. In retirement, Charles and Norma lived both on the farm and spent their winters in Mesa, AZ. Charles was a life-long member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Hatton where he was baptized and confirmed. He was a long-serving board member of the Mayville Elevator during the years he farmed. He was also an active member of the Morgan Gun Club. He loved to hunt and is known for his many stories and fun that he had with his friends. Charles and Norma were like a second family to many people over the years, and their home was always open to those who needed some help and/or someone to talk to. Charles was a truly kind and generous person who was adored by many. He was greatly blessed with many extended family and friends. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma, brother Henry L. Lee Jr, and nephew Ralph C. Lee. He is survived by his sister Naomi Halda, San Marcos, CA; sister-in-law Sylvia (Hefta) Osland, MN/AZ; nieces Mary (Ron) Garceau, Nampa, ID; Margaret Lee, Fargo, ND; niece-in-law Charlotte (Ralph) Lee; nephews Mark Halda, San Marcos, CA; Richard (Robirda) Lee, Salem, OR; James Halda, San Marcos, CA; great nieces and nephews Jesse (Jeremy) Wendt, Tamara (Nathan) VanWechel, Rob (Jessica) Lee, Richard Garceau, Rachel (Kristian) Boren, Sarah (Matthew) Lutterloh, Kelsey Lee, Brooke Lee, Corrie Phillips, Aaron Halda and Nathan Halda, as well as many great-great nieces and nephews. In addition, many nieces and nephews through marriage. Funeral Service: 10:30 am Friday, March 12, 2010 at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Hatton, ND. Visitation: 5-7 PM Thursday, March 11, 2010 with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND, and one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church. Burial: Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery, in the spring.
