Charlotte O. Gunderson, 97, of Mayville, ND, formerly of Buxton, ND, died Friday, February 5, 2010, at Union Hospital in Mayville. Charlotte was born March 28, 1912 in Wold Township, ND at the home of her parents, Ole and Caroline (Aune) Molvig. She attended rural school in Wold Township and graduated from Buxton High School in 1933. The following year she lived with and cared for her grandparents, Olaf and Anna Aune in Buxton. She then attended Mayville Normal School for two years which qualified her to teach in the rural grade schools. She taught in Wold and Mayville Townships and also one year at a rural school near Northwood, ND. Charlotte was united in marriage to Orlin Gunderson on November 11, 1938 at her parents’ home. The couple established their home at a new farmstead in Stavanger Township, east of Buxton. They farmed there until retirement, and resided there until December of 2005. The couple moved to Parkwood Place in Grand Forks, ND before moving into SunCenter Apartments in Mayville, in December 2009. Charlotte was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She loved to sew, and through the years, she made all of her own clothing. She enjoyed gardening, and in the summers she would have a large flower garden filled with numerous different flowers. She especially loved her many rose bushes planted around the yard. Charlotte liked helping out on the farm, canning produce from Orlin’s vegetable garden, and was a good truck driver during harvest time. Charlotte also spent many years as a 4-H leader. Charlotte is survived by her husband of 71 years, Orlin, of Mayville; nieces, Carol Ambli, Renae Broden, Joan Whiting, Dianne Molvig, and Carmen Fricke; nephews, Steve Molvig, Bob Molvig and Larry Molvig; and numerous grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anna Farstad; two brothers, Alvin and Kenneth. Funeral Service: 1:30 PM Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Buxton, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral service, at the church. Burial: Immanuel Lutheran West Cemetery, rural Buxton, ND, in the spring.
