Irene L. Ingebretson, 75, of Portland, ND, died Thursday, December 31, 2009, at the Union Hospital in Mayville, ND. She was born on October 9, 1934, in Portland, ND, the daughter of Alvin Sr. and Jorgine (Kjensrud) Amundson. She attended and graduated from Portland High School. On November 10, 1957, she married Martin Iver Ingebretson at Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. The couple resided on a farm near Mayville. Irene assisted with farming and Ingebretson Auction Service for numerous years, until retiring in 1993. The couple moved into Portland in 1990. Irene was a member of Mayville Lutheran Church, and its ladies aid. She was a former member of the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed music, flowers, gardening, and bird watching. Irene was an avid MN Twins baseball fan, and a cat lover. She also loved to travel with her family. Irene loved fishing with her husband, Martin. Irene is survived by one son, Marlin (Cindy) Ingebretson of Mayville; three daughters, Shirley (Arden Jr.) Rux of Portland, Lois (Todd) Erickson of Casselton, ND, and Elaine Hopkins of Flower Mound, TX; six grandchildren, Cory (Jenifer) Palm, Brandon Palm, Jenaye and Jace Ingebretson, and Shawn and Alissa Erickson; two great grandchildren, Matthew and Jayden Palm; two step grandchildren, Erica (Brandon) Speidel and Benjamin Lunak; and two step great granddaughters, Ella and Lauren Speidel. She is also survived by three brothers, Elroy Amundson of Portland, Alvin Amundson Jr. of Portland, and Norman (Orpha) Amundson of Detroit Lakes, MN; and one sister, Delores Amb of Portland. She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin in 2008; brothers, Glenn, Curvin, Rodger, and Alexander; and sister, Olga Syverson. Visitation: 5-7 PM, Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND and one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church. Funeral: 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville, ND. Burial: Mayville City Cemetery, in the spring 2010.
