Orville C. Paulson, 99, of Galesburg, ND, died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Arthur Good Samaritan Center, Arthur, ND. Orville Chester Paulson was born on November 4, 1910 in Galesburg, the son of Oscar and Anna (Gammelgaard) Paulson. He was raised and attended school in Galesburg. He owned and operated the Texaco Station in Galesburg from 1939-1941. On December 7, 1941 he married Harriet Power near Erie, ND. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Galesburg. Orville retired in 1965, but continued to help his son Bill until 1995. He entered the Arthur Good Samaritan Center in 2007. Orville was a lifetime member of the Elm River Lutheran Church where he was baptized, confirmed and served on several church boards. He served on the Elm River Cemetery Board, the Galesburg Improvement Association, and the Galesburg Fire Department for 77 years, and was president of the board. He was active in the Elm River Wildlife Club, the Brewer Lake Gun Club, and the Elm River Credit Union. Orville is survived by his son, Bill (Karen) Paulson of Elbow Lake, MN; daughter, Becky (Gary) West of Andover, MN; 6 grandchildren, Mark Paulson, Tracy Paulson, Tanya (Scott) Bakken, Alan Huss, Terry (Melanie) Huss, and Randy (Stacy) Huss; and 3 great-grandsons, Madison Nelson-Gira, Matthew Bakken, and Brady Huss. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet; 2 brothers, Leo and Kenneth; 3 sisters, Ardith Alberts, Francis Paulson, and Leona Paulson. Memorials preferred to Elm River Cemetery Association, or the Arthur Good Samaritan Center. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Elm River Lutheran Church, Galesburg. Visitation: 2-5 PM Friday, January 1, 2010 at Baker Funeral Home Mayville, and one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church. Interment: Elm River Cemetery.
