Lois Baasch Sexton

Lois Melissa Bayley Baasch Sexton, age 90, of Fargo, ND formerly of Page, ND died on December 6, 2009 at Villa Maria nursing home. Lois was born February 15, 1919, the daughter of Ray & Clara (Newcomb) Bayley at Buffalo, ND. She graduated from Tower City High School in 1936. She attended Dakota Business College in Fargo after which she worked for Bell Telephone Company. On September 4, 1937 she married John David Baasch at Valley City, ND. They farmed in the Page area until retirement in 1973 and spent their winters in Texas. In 1983, John & Lois moved from the farm into Page, and continued to spend their winters in Texas. In 2000 they moved to Riverview Place, Fargo, ND. Lois pursued many interests including: music (organ, singing in the choir for Llano Grande Lake Park church services, and a quartet at Riverview Place, Fargo, ND). She was proficient on the computer, and enjoyed publishing a history of her early life in ND and “Grandma’s Grapevine” for her family’s pleasure. Over the years she became an accomplished photographer (developing her own pictures), a talented seamstress (sewing clothing for family and later quilting). She was Eastern ND coordinator for TOPS for several years and an active leader for “TOPS” in the Page community, Llano Grande Lake Park and at Riverview Place. She was a member at Our Savior Lutheran, Page and Atonement Lutheran, Fargo. In 2005 she married Elbe Sexton, Fargo, ND. She is survived by her husband, Elbe Sexton and her children, Cleo (Ralph) Thompson, Page, ND; Clarice (Vic) Rylander, Mercedes, TX; J. Gayland (Susan) Baasch, Page, ND; Lori (John) Satrom, Galesburg, ND; Rodney (Kim) Baasch, Bend, OR; 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; and Elbe’s children Carol Sexton, Fargo, ND, and Dan (JoAnn)Sexton, Williston, ND. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Baasch, her parents and brothers E. Lyle Bayley, Lovell A. Bayley and William H. Bayley. A Memorial Service will be at Riverview Place, Fargo, ND, on Friday, December 11, at 1:00pm and a prayer service will be held that evening at 7:00pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Page, ND. A Memorial Service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Page, ND on Saturday, December 12, at 11:00am. Arrangements are with Lindsey Carlson Funeral Home of Page, ND.
