Adrian Knudsvig, 89, of Buxton, ND, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Adrian S. Knudsvig was born March 19, 1920 in Buxton, ND, to Henry and Karina (Jermeland) Knudsvig. He grew up in Buxton and graduated from Buxton High School. He attended Concordia College, graduating in 1942. He joined the US Army Air Corps, and was stationed in Texas, working as a pilot trainer. He married Marian Tweten on December 19, 1948 at St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church, rural Reynolds, ND. Together they had 3 children. Adrian later graduated from the University of Minnesota’s Mortuary Science program. With his brother, Adrian operated Knudsvig Funeral Home, Knudsvig Grocery and Knudsvig Hardware Store. For a few years, he worked as a traveling consultant for the American Lutheran Church. Adrian was the administrator of the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville for 27 years. In August, 2006, he became a resident there. Adrian was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Buxton, where he was very active. He and Marian taught Sunday school together there for several years. He was also very active in scouting; in recognition of leadership, Adrian received the highest award, the Silver Beaver. Adrian is survived by his wife Marian of Buxton; two children, Sandra Knudsvig and Morgan (Nita) Knudsvig, all of Newton, KS; daughter-in-law, Bonny Knudsvig of East Grand Forks, MN; 5 grandchildren, James (Brenda) Brown of Lakeland, FL, Cory (Jannel) Brown of Winston-Salem, NC, Janae Brown of Winston-Salem, NC, Sarah Godby of Baltimore, MD, and Tony Knudsvig of East Grand Forks, MN; 8 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Howard J. Knudsvig, and son, Bruce Knudsvig. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Luther Memorial Home of Mayville, Lutheran Social Service of Fargo, ND, Concordia College, or donor’s choice. Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Buxton, ND. Visitation: 5-7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2009 and one hour prior to the funeral service, all at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Buxton. Interment: Immanuel Cemetery East.
