Hilda Oline Ramstad

Hilda Oline Ramstad, 92, Mayville, ND, formerly of Hatton, ND, died Friday, April 28, 2006 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND. Hilda was born on March 14, 1914 to Gunder and Bergitte Hyland of Tillamook, Norway. In 1916 her family arrived at Ellis Island, NY eventually joining their father to homestead near Northwood, ND. She was confirmed in Beaver Creek in 1928. She attended school near Northwood. Hilda married Gilman Ramstad November 12, 1939 in Hatton, ND. They lived on a farm near North Golden Lake. They moved to a farm South of Hatton and farmed until they retired. They moved into Hatton and lived there until Gilman’s death in 1992. Hilda moved to Mayville and lived in an apartment until last fall. Hilda became a resident of the Luther Memorial Home last September. Hilda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hilda is survived by a son Eldred Ramstad of Mandan, ND; a daughter in law Sharon Ramstad of Mayville, ND; granddaughter Brenda (Jon) Chandler of Portland, ND; grandsons Barry (Tawnia) Ramstad of Columbia falls, MT, Scott Ramstad of Mayville, ND, and Sven (Kim) Evelsizer of Broomfield, CO; and 12 great grandchildren. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband Gilman Ramstad; son Ray Ramstad; and three sisters Aggie, Gerda and Clara.
