Calvin Clyde “Cal” Chamberlain, 87, of Mayville, ND died November 19, 2016 in the Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND, under hospice care. Cal was born on May 9, 1929 in Fulton, SD to Charley and Fannie (McMahill) Chamberlain and graduated from Pine River High School, MN in 1947. He joined the army after high school. He married Ramona Kronschnabel on April 27, 1950. He worked as an office clerk at Simonson’s LBR in Grafton, ND, Simonson’s LBR and Cashway lumber yards in Fargo and Lamb Bros. in Michigan, ND and also Cashway in Mahnomen, MN. In 1970 he purchased and operated Cal’s Texaco and over the next several year’s Cal’s Towing and Cal’s Ice in Mayville. A business man, Cal was a valuable member of the community. Cal served in the Mayville community as a volunteer with the ambulance service and the fire department. He also served as a councilman with the Mayville City Council. He was a school bus driver for May-Port schools for 32 years. It brought him great joy working with the staff, fellow bus drivers, and being involved with the children. His family was important to him. He always had a smile and a joke for his grandchildren. Cal is survived by his wife, Ramona, Mayville; Sons Charley (Eileen) Plymouth, MN, Steven (Elaine) Waterloo, IA, Fred (Bonnie) Austin, MN; Daughter-in-law Marcia, Portland, ND. Daughters, Cheryl, Tulsa, OK, Sharon, Mayville, ND; Niece, Alice Simengaard (Harold) Portland, ND; Brother, Fred (Marilyn) Pine River, MN; 10 Grandchildren and 13 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents (Charley and Fannie Chamberlain), his brother, Elmer, sisters, Agnes & Doris, & his son, Michael. Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley Visitation: Will be from 5–7 PM on Friday, November 25 2016 with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and resumed one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. Military Honors: May~Port Honor Guard and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors. Burial: Will be in the Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
