Rose Maureen Kvernen

Rose Kvernen 04/01/1932 ~ 10/18/2016 Rose Maureen Kvernen, 84, of Mayville, ND died Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Rose was born April 1, 1932 in Golden Lake Township, rural Finley, ND to Gunder and Agnes (Brainerd) Strand. She grew up in Hatton and Mayville, graduating from Mayville High School in 1951. She married Duane Kvernen on October 18, 1952 in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. Rose moved back to Mayville to be near family while Duane served in the US Navy. They later made their home in Portland, ND. Rose owned and operated Rose’s Steakhouse from 1970 to 1973. Rose is survived by her son: Rick Kvernen of Downey, CA; three granddaughters: Kaylee (Don) Woodbury of Argusville, ND, Angela (Cheyenne) Davis of Mayville, ND and Sharla Kvernen of Fargo, ND; 7 great-grandchildren: Kolby Domier, Sheriden Rose Davis, Kinsey Rose Domier, Maggie Davis, Nathan Coen, Jaklyn Davis and Evan Davis; nine siblings: Gloria (Ron) Willeson of Mesa, AZ, Shirley (Don) Moss of Manhattan, MT, Glenn (Karen) Strand of New Prague, MN, Sandra Miller of Fargo, ND, Rita (Gary) Odegard of Buxton, ND, Gaye Swanson of Wheatland, ND, Cheryl (Dean) Brown of West Fargo, ND, Sue (Mark) Griffith of Moorhead, MN and Sonia (Derek) Horne of Antioch, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband: Duane; daughter: Jacquelyn; parents and brother: Ray. Visitation: Will be from 5–7 PM on Friday, October 21 2016 with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and resumed one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Burial: Will be in the Aurdal Cemetery, Portland, ND.
