Odin Rud, 90, of Galesburg, ND, died Saturday, July 4, 2009 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Odin was born April 23, 1919 in Bloomfield Township, Traill County, rural Hillsboro, ND, the son of Iver and Tillie (Lommerud) Rud. He attended rural school and later attended mechanics training in Wahpeton, ND. After his schooling he returned to the Galesburg area to farm with his brother, Thomas. On July 10, 1941, Odin married Inez Erickson in Hillsboro, ND. After their marriage, the couple lived in rural Galesburg on their self-sufficient, working farm. For a number of years, Odin worked as a “winter mechanic” in Halstad, MN. After retiring to Galesburg in 1999, he continued part-time general mechanics and local handyman services until entering the Luther Memorial Home in March of 2009. Odin was a member of Stordahl Lutheran Church, rural Galesburg. He enjoyed all animals, airplanes, fishing, hunting, and had a special interest in speed and stock car racing. Odin is survived by his 5 children, Orlin (Linda) Rud of Camano Island, WA, Ilene (Sonny) Clemenson of Fargo, ND, Harold (Lynda) Rud of Argusville, ND, Marlowe (Pam) Rud of Dent, MN, and Wayne (Pam) Rud of Fargo, ND; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John and Tom, and sister, Thea Freestad. Funeral Service: Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 10:30 AM, at Elm River Lutheran Church in Galesburg, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM, at Baker Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church. Interment: Arnegard Cemetery, rural Hillsboro, ND.
