Florence Ludwig, 95, of Portland, ND died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at her home. Florence Jacobson was born in rural Finley, ND on February 28, 1921, the daughter of Severt and Ella (Olson) Jacobson. She attended school at New Bergen #3 and graduated from the Finley High School. She was the 15th of 16 children born to Severt and Ella. Florence married Harley Ludwig on August 9, 1947. She was the postal clerk in the Portland Post Office for 23 years. Along with being a postal clerk, she also operated the Polka Dot Drive Inn for 15 years. She was known as the “Queen of Pronto Pups”; also for her skills in making lefsa and rommegrot. Florence lived life to its fullest. Her sense of humor, her adventurous ways and playing tricks on people lead to her nickname, “Trix”. Wearing fancy hats and fancy rings were also one of her joys. She is survived by her favorite son: Dean (Debi) Ludwig of West Fargo, ND; Daughters: Zondra (Dave) Larsen of Hutchinson, MN, Deanna (Bill) Ellingson of Roseville, MN, Donna (Curt) Mark of Dalton, MN and Dawn Rae Ludwig of Portland, ND; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her husband: Harley; son: Kenneth; 5 grandchildren; parents; 4 brothers and 11 sisters. Florence was an amazingly strong, sincere, loving and silly woman. She was a friend to many and will be missed by all that knew her. Visitation: Will be 6–7 PM on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Burial: Will take place in the Bruflat Cemetery, Portland, ND.
