Lillian Berg, 96, of Mayville, ND moved to heaven on Saturday morning, August 27, 2016 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Lillian Karen Marie (Andersen) Berg was born September 9, 1919, to Alfred and Annette (Erickson) Andersen in Chicago, Illinois. Lillian’s father was a Methodist pastor, so her childhood was spent living in various towns in the Midwest, including Omaha, NE, Newburg, MN, Stoughton, WS, and Hillsboro, ND. She graduated from Hillsboro High School and briefly attended business school. Lillian married Alf Berg on August 30, 1940, at the Hillsboro Methodist Church. The Berg’s began their married life in Minneapolis, MN, followed by a year in Tracy, MN. The rest of their married life was spent on the Berg farm at rural Hillsboro. Following several years in her senior apartment in Hillsboro, Lillian lived at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Lillian was a homemaker who also enjoyed playing the piano, including accompanying several choirs directed by her husband, Alf. She was active in local churches as a Sunday school superintendent and teacher, and a greeter. Lillian was known as a woman of prayer, a loyal friend and had a reputation as a top-notch bread baker. Lillian is survived by her four children: Duane (Linda) Berg, Yukon, OK, Annette (Berg) Morrison and husband Justin, Astoria, SD, Ramona (Berg) Johnston, Frisco, TX and Wendell (Judy) Berg, Hillsboro, ND; plus ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her siblings. Blessed be the memory of Lillian Berg. Visitation: Will be 5–7 PM on Monday, August 29, 2016 with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Valley Free Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Burial: Will take place in the Aal Cemetery, Hillsboro, ND.
