Jennifer “Jenny” (Rettig) Karboviak, 27, of Mayville, ND, died June 7, 2016 at her residence. Jennifer Lynn (Rettig) Karboviak was born on October 22, 1988 in Grand Forks, ND. She attended school in Medina, ND, being active in track and cross-country. She graduated from Mayville State University with an AA degree in Early Childhood to pursue her love of teaching children. She resided in Mayville after graduation. Jennifer worked at Luther Memorial Home as a coffee shop attendant to residents, and later as a Classroom Float at Mayville State’s Child Development Program. She met her husband, Rick Karboviak, while employed at Mayville State University. They became engaged on July 18, 2015. Together they enjoyed watching all Comet athletic events and attending fundraising activities for the college, plus movies and dates up in Grand Forks. She also shared her gifts of teaching to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church by teaching pre-school children. Jennifer also had a special place in her heart for her new niece Emma and nephew Alex. Jennifer impacted many children’s lives with her time spent caring for them at the CDP. She had a deep love for cats, especially Callie, but her happiest days on earth were her wedding day on June 4, 2016 and the 3 days following with her beloved husband, Rick Karboviak. She is also survived by her parents, Tom Rettig of Enderlin, ND, and Deborah Rettig of Medina, ND, as well as one brother, Kurt of Minneapolis, MN and one sister, Sara of Enderlin/ Medina, ND, grandparents Eva Rettig of Nebraska, and Harvey & Dorla Hanson of Sharon, ND. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Thomas Rettig, Sr. Visitation: Will be from 2 to 4 PM Sunday, June 12, 2016 with a 4 PM Public Prayer Service at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Mayville, and will resume one hour prior to the service. Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM Monday, June 13, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
