Lavon Fugleberg, 88, of Mayville, ND, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Sanford Hospital in Mayville, ND. Lavon Fugleberg was born March 31, 1928 in rural Hatton to Ingemore and Lillian (Syverson) Fugleberg. He was the youngest of four sons. Lavon attended a country school and was baptized and confirmed at the Little Forks Church. The family later moved to a farm southeast of Finley where he worked with his father and brothers. In 1948 Lavon married Gladys Holkesvig at Aurdal Lutheran Church. With their daughter, Susan, and son, Steve, they lived in rural Portland where they farmed and raised livestock. Lavon was a member of Aurdal Lutheran Church and served on the Farmers Union Oil Company Board, and school and Roseville Township boards. He enjoyed his morning coffee with friends at the Cenex Station and playing cards. His favorite pastime was reading books. He will be remembered for his kindness and sense of humor. Lavon is survived by his wife, Gladys; daughter, Susan Fugleberg, and son-in-law, Richard Woosnam, of Crystal Lake, Illinois; son, Steve Fugleberg, and daughter-in-law, Marge (Grinde), of Mayville; grandson, Ross (Holly) Fugleberg, of Chandler, AZ; granddaughter, Megan (Jake) Lind, and great-grandson, Owen Lind, of Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Duane, Vernon and Wallace and Gladys’s parents Mabel and George Holkesvig. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Aurdal Cemetery Fund or the Mayville Public Library. Visitation: Will be from 5–7 PM on Monday, May 30, 2016 with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Burial: Will be at the Aurdal Cemetery in Portland, ND.
