Richard “Dick” Langager, 83, of Page, ND, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Union Hospital in Mayville, ND. Dick was born on October 28, 1925 in Hope, ND to Sven and Ada (Lambert) Langager. He was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Hope. He attended country school #1 at Hope, ND. Dick farmed with his dad before being called to serve in the US Army in 1945. He received the American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Dick returned to rural Page where he continued to farm his entire life. Dick was very proud to receive his Honorary High School Diploma in 2000. He was a lifetime member of the Hope Color Guard. He also served on the Rochester Township Board for many years. He enjoyed woodworking; making several wooden craft items for family and friends. He also had a love of John Deere Tractors. Dick is survived by his wife, Sharon of Page; siblings, Ester (Kenny) Ask of Fargo, Marion Olafson of Valley City, ND, Phyllis Simenson of Cooperstown, Cyril “Joe” (Polly) Langager of CA, and Olive (Lester) Zerface of Hillsboro, ND; several in-laws, nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews; and many special friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Langager, sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen (Haaken) Mickelson, Doris (Ted) McCullough, and Ruth (Phillip) Sonsthagen, and brothers-in-law, Cal Olafson and Sever Simonson. Funeral Service: Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 1:00PM at the Hope American Legion Hall, Hope, ND, with visitation to begin at 11:00am. Burial: Hope Cemetery, Hope, ND.
