Marilyn Burley, 76, of Mayville, ND, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Marilyn Rose Marie Burley, 76, was born on April 24, 1939 in Mayville, North Dakota to Edgar and Adeline (Larson) Schjeldahl. She received her education in Mayville, ND. On February 18, 1957, she married Harvey Burley of Blanchard, ND. Throughout their marriage, they lived mostly in Mayville, ND. Marilyn was a lifelong member of Mayville Lutheran Church where she was president of the Women of the ELCA (WELCA) and served on the council. Marilyn also donated her time and talents to the American Cancer Society, Ladies Auxiliary of Luther Memorial Home and many other causes. Marilyn was truly the heart of her family. Beyond those closest to her, her generosity of spirit and unique wit, coupled with a genuine love of people, made her a delight to be with. Marilyn gave a special meaning to the word "conversationalist." She not only loved to garden, but truly lived the saying "Bloom where you are planted" through her forthright and dedicated leadership, especially at Mayville Lutheran Church and in her interaction with her family and friends. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Harvey; children: Dalene Burley of Fargo, ND, Danette (Cliff) Perkins of Aurora, CO, Kim (Alton) Terkorn of Springfield, VA, Jay Burley of Mayville, ND, and Jacquelyn (Gary) Ness of Fargo, ND; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Stanley. Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Celebration of Life: 2:00 PM Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at 10:00 AM Friday in the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
